Railway Signal System

Overview

The train detection system is a device that detects the presence or absence of trains on rails while trains and railroad vehicles are in operation and displays the current operating location. Based on this, it is a device that helps safe operation of trains, such as checking the speed of vehicles, distance and location between trains, displaying signals, and switching track switches.

AF track circuit / Speed code transmission type

characteristic

  • Detection of train presence using audio frequency.
  • 4 uplink frequencies (F1, 3, 5, 7)) and 4 downlink frequencies (F2, 4, 6, 7) are allocated and used.
  • Transmission of coded control information to onboard devices (trains).
  • Train location detection, train speed indication according to the operation interval with the front train, vehicle operation information transmission.
  • Transmission of coded control information to moving trains through ground devices.
  • Securing safety by automatically stopping the train when controlling fail-safe.

System configuration

AF track circuit / Speed code non-transmission type

characteristic

  • Detection of train presence using audio frequency.
  • 4 uplink frequencies (F1, 3, 5, 7)) and 4 downlink frequencies (F2, 4, 6, 7) are allocated and used.
  • Non-insulated track circuit between AC and DC train sections.
  • Common use of block sections within and between stations.

System configuration / In-station

System configuration / Block section

Axle Counter

Characteristic

  • Detection of train wheels using sensors.
  • Checking whether there is a train, direction of operation, and speed of operation.
  • 2-wire PLC power line and long-distance communication.
  • Self-diagnosis and data confirmation by visual panel.
  • Increased safety and economic system of train operation.

System configuration

Track circuit level detection System (TLDS)

Characteristic

  • Displaying train occupancy information and on-site change information.
  • Prevention of failure in advance by checking the voltage value of the track circuit transmitter and receiver in real time.
  • Real-time monitoring of track circuits and on-site facility operation and failure.
  • Real-time monitoring of signal systems’ status at each station.
